Safety FAQs

REQUIRED NOTICE

Although the SCA complies with all applicable laws to try to ensure the health and safety of our event participants, we cannot eliminate the risk of exposure to infectious diseases during in-person events. By participating in the in-person events of the SCA, you acknowledge and accept the potential risks. You agree to take any additional steps to protect your own health and safety and those under your control as you believe to be necessary.

Are vaccinations required to attend this event?

No.  According to SCA “Memorandum – Statement Regarding Proof of Vaccinations, Negative COVID Tests, and Temperature Checks of Attendees at Society Events,” published April 23, 2021:

“The Board, President, and Society Seneschal are agreed that Kingdoms, and all groups below Kingdom status, shall only be permitted to request proof of vaccination, a negative COVID test, or temperature checks where required by federal, provincial, state, or local laws. No variances will be granted that do not comply with this interpretation.”

At this time such measures are not required by Christian County Public Health.

We continue to heartily encourage all Midrealmers who are able to obtain a vaccination to do so to protect others who may not be able to be vaccinated due to health concerns or their age.

Must masks be worn at this event?

No. According to the Kingdom of the Midrealm Proclamation dated May 29, 2021:

“We encourage those who wish to wear a mask to do so, especially if they are not vaccinated.”

Will there be a lunch or feast provided at this event?

No.  Unfortunately, at this time, current SCA regulations prohibit this.

On May 25, 2021, the Board of Directors passed the following “Resolution to Further Lift Suspension of In-Person Activity in the SCA as of July 1st, 2021,” Section VI.B.:

“The SCA may not provide shared drinking containers or any food served in a buffet-style. Attendees who accept shared drinking containers or buffet-style food from other attendees do so at their own risk. Feast will not be allowed at this time…”

Why do I have to pre-register?

SCA regulations require this.  On May 25, 2021, the Board of Directors passed the following “Resolution to Further Lift Suspension of In-Person Activity in the SCA as of July 1st, 2021,” Section VI.C.:

“All events shall require preregistration.”

Please note that we will be using the SCA-rs system and have opted to charge a 0% cancellation fee, if you cancel in advance of the event.
